When you follow a path in music, your hope from the beginning is to create, inspire and achieve longevity. For as long as I can remember, Céline Dion has managed to check off each and every single one of those boxes. Since her US debut in 1990, Céline remains one of the most iconic artists of our time. Decade after decade, Dion has reinvented herself and kept up with the ever-changing music industry. In 2003, Dion premiered her very first Vegas residency, becoming the most successful concert residency of all time. From 2008-2009, Céline hit the road for the Taking Chances World Tour. Since then, Céline has not been on a world tour that big… until now. In April 2019, Céline announced via-Facebook live, that she would be hitting the road again. But, you don’t hit the road without a purpose. Céline revealed her highly anticipated album, ‘Courage’, would release on November 15th.

The Courage World Tour kicked off September 18th in Quebec City, Canada with dates running through September 18, 2020, ending in London, England. When the Céline made her way to Boston, I was able to live through one of the most memorable moments of my life. Sounds pretty crazy, dramatic and over the top, right? This was one of those, “you have to be there” type of moments. Fans were put on the spot before the show even started. A camera flashed to people dancing in the audience, broadcasting on the big screen above Céline’s stage. In that moment, a group of carefree people came together to fearlessly have a great time. The energy in the room was at a high before the show even started. That is when you know it is going to be a good night. The audience was filled with people of all ages, further proving how iconic Céline is. From generation to generation, Dion has impacted the world with her voice.

Céline opened the show with her classic rendition of “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” - talk about a vocal masterpiece. Céline has one of the strongest, most recognizable voices in the industry. To this day, Dion remains at the top of the game, her game. Throughout the night, Céline revisited her hits including “That’s the Way It Is”, “The Power of Love”, “Beauty & the Beast”, “All By Myself”, “Because You Loved Me” + so many others. When you look back on this specific tour, it’s hard to pick which moments stood out. We all love hearing the hits, but Céline did take the time to perform some new material off her latest release, Courage. Dion preached to the audience about the courage she had to face over the past several years. Céline gave the audience hope for their own lives by being vulnerable and sharing her story. Two stand out moments from the new album credit to the title track “Courage” and “Imperfections”. The Courage World Tour is a perfectly crafted body of art. From the set list, to the stage design and even Céline’s wardrobe. That’s right, we all know Céline is a style icon too. As the show was coming to an end, Dion didn’t shy away from performing some hits from other artists including a medley of “Let’s Dance”, “Another One Bites the Dust”, “Kiss”, “River Deep Mountain High” and “Lady Marmalade”. Céline closed the show with one of the biggest songs in movie history - “My Heart Will Go On” from the 1997 film, Titanic.

Throughout the night, Céline paused between songs to take in the reaction from the audience. After years in the industry, it’s easy to fall into a habit of expected nature, but not Céline. Dion remains genuine and appreciative - for every single person that purchases a ticket and comes to the show. I definitely found myself tearing up from the power of dedication Céline has to her craft. The Courage World Tour continues in 2020, running though September 18th, ending in London, England.
